The Game Awards 2018

The time has come: it’s the night when the gaming industry is getting judged. A night of awards, announcements and just generally celebrating this weird and wonderful form of entertainment.

The first award of the night went to Dead Cells for Best Action Game, followed by the Best RPG title, taken by Monster Hunter World. Then came a bunch of eSports awards (the best eSport game was Overwatch, again – it seems there is no stopping Blizzard’s competitive FPS). Red Dead 2, probably not surprisingly took the award for best narrative (and probably a bunch of others as the show goes on). The award for Best Student game and the Industry Icon award was given out as well, the latter going to 2K’s Greg Thomas.

The first hour gave us these awards and “World Premiers,” which is just a fancy word for cinematic trailers with barely any in-game footage. Which is fine by me, they look awesome.

This was the first hour, I’ll keep you updated with the rest of the show. What do you think so far? Let me know here in the comments or on Twitter!
